Socket Weld Fittings Manufacturer in India — ASME B16.11

Teshi Group is an OEM manufacturer of forged socket weld fittings for small-bore, high-pressure lines: 90° and 45° elbows, tees, crosses, full and half couplings, unions and caps. Fittings are machined from ASTM A105, A182 F304/F316 and F11/F22 forgings in Class 3000, 6000 and 9000, with socket bore and depth checked against ASME B16.11 on every lot.

Socket bore and depth are checked against ASME B16.11 on every lot.

ASME B16.11 pressure class and matching pipe schedule

Forged fitting class is chosen to match the wall thickness of the pipe it joins.

ClassSocket weld — matching pipeThreaded — matching pipeSize range
2000—Sch 80 / XS⅛"–4"
3000Sch 80 / XSSch 160⅛"–4"
6000Sch 160XXS⅛"–4"

Per ASME B16.11 Table 1. Fittings may be used with other schedules; the governing standard and piping code take precedence.

FAQ

Socket Weld Fittings: common questions

Which pipe schedule matches each socket weld class?

Under ASME B16.11, Class 3000 socket weld fittings are used with Schedule 80 (XS) pipe, Class 6000 with Schedule 160 and Class 9000 with XXS pipe.

Why is a gap left at the bottom of the socket?

A gap of about 1.6 mm between the pipe end and the socket bottom is left before welding so that thermal expansion of the pipe during welding does not crack the fillet weld.

What sizes of socket weld fittings do you make?

NPS ⅛" to 4" in Class 3000, and the sizes ASME B16.11 lists for Class 6000 and 9000. Larger or special fittings are forged and machined to drawing.
