FAQ

Gaskets & Seals: common questions

Does Teshi Group manufacture gaskets?

No. Gaskets are stocked and supplied from approved manufacturers, usually as part of a complete flange, gasket and stud bolt kit.

How do I read the colour code on a spiral wound gasket?

Under ASME B16.20 the outer-ring edge colour identifies the winding metal (yellow for 304, green for 316L) and a stripe identifies the filler (grey for flexible graphite, white for PTFE).

Which gasket is used with ring-joint flanges?

Ring type joint flanges use metallic ring gaskets, type R oval or octagonal for ASME B16.5 flanges. The ring number depends on flange size and class.
