MSS SP-97 Weldolet Dimensions
This chart gives typical dimensions of standard-weight (STD) Weldolets to MSS SP-97 in millimetres, for outlets from NPS ½" to 8" on a run pipe of the same size (size-on-size). A Weldolet is an integrally reinforced butt-weld branch outlet that replaces a reinforced branch or a reducing tee.
MSS SP-97 sets the design, reinforcement, marking and testing requirements; exact profiles vary slightly between manufacturers, so confirm dimensions on the drawing for your order. Teshi Group supplies Weldolets, Sockolets and Threadolets in carbon, stainless and alloy steel.
Key to dimensions
- A
- Height of the outlet above the run pipe
- B
- Width of the base across the run pipe
- C
- Outside diameter of the outlet at the welding end

Notes
- Dimensions are in millimetres, for standard-weight (STD) Weldolets on a run pipe of the same nominal size.
- On a larger run pipe the base is contoured to that run size; the height A stays the same for a given outlet size and schedule.
- Extra-strong (XS) and Schedule 160 Weldolets are taller; their dimensions are supplied on request.
- Sockolet (socket weld) and Threadolet (NPT) outlets to MSS SP-97 are rated Class 3000 or 6000.

FAQ
MSS SP-97 Weldolet dimensions: common questions
What is the height of a 2 inch Weldolet?
A standard-weight 2" Weldolet is about 38.1 mm high, with a base about 88.9 mm wide and an outlet diameter of about 65.1 mm.
What is the difference between a Weldolet, Sockolet and Threadolet?
All three are MSS SP-97 branch outlets welded onto the run pipe. A Weldolet has a butt-weld outlet, a Sockolet a socket-weld outlet and a Threadolet an NPT threaded outlet.
Does Teshi Group supply branch outlet fittings?
Yes. Weldolets, Sockolets, Threadolets, Elbolets, Latrolets and Nipolets are supplied in ASTM A105, A182 F304/F316 and alloy grades with EN 10204 3.1 certificates.
