Titanium Grade 1 / 2 / 5 / 7 / 12 Flanges

Teshi Group manufactures Titanium Grade 1 / 2 / 5 / 7 / 12 flanges (ASTM B381 F-1, F-2, F-5, F-7, F-12) as an OEM in India — forged, machined, marked and certified in-house to ASME B16.5, ASME B16.47, EN 1092-1 and customer drawings.

Titanium is around 45 % lighter than steel and is practically immune to seawater, wet chlorine and hypochlorite thanks to a stable, self-healing oxide film.

Pressure rating

Titanium is not listed in the ASME B16.5 rating tables; titanium flanges are designed to the flange standard dimensions and rated per the project code. The applicable rating table is issued with every quotation, and flanges are marked with class, material and heat number.

FAQ

Titanium Grade 1 / 2 / 5 / 7 / 12 flanges: common questions

What specification covers Titanium Grade 1 / 2 / 5 / 7 / 12 flanges?

Titanium Grade 1 / 2 / 5 / 7 / 12 flanges are forged to ASTM B381 F-1 / ASTM B381 F-2 / ASTM B381 F-5 / ASTM B381 F-7 / ASTM B381 F-12 and dimensioned to ASME B16.5, ASME B16.47 or EN 1092-1.

What is the chemical composition of Grade 1?

Grade 1 (UNS R50250): C 0.08, N 0.03, Fe 0.20, O 0.18, H 0.015 (weight %; single values are maximums).

What are the minimum mechanical properties of Grade 1?

Tensile strength 240 MPa (35 ksi), yield strength 170 MPa (25 ksi), elongation 24 %.

Is Teshi Group a manufacturer of Titanium Grade 1 / 2 / 5 / 7 / 12 flanges in India?

Yes. Teshi Group has manufactured flanges and fittings in India since 1971 and is ISO 9001:2015 certified and IBR approved. Every Titanium Grade 1 / 2 / 5 / 7 / 12 piece is hard-stamped with its heat number and supplied with an EN 10204 3.1 certificate; 3.2 with third-party inspection on request.

Which ASTM specification covers titanium flanges?

Titanium flanges are forged to ASTM B381 (grades F-1 to F-12 and others), with dimensions to ASME B16.5 or B16.47. Butt weld fittings are made to ASTM B363 (WPT grades).

What is the difference between titanium Grade 2 and Grade 5?

Grade 2 (UNS R50400) is commercially pure titanium with 345 MPa minimum tensile strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V, UNS R56400) is an alloy with 895 MPa minimum tensile strength for high-stress parts.
