What are Hastelloy C276 & C22 Plate?
Hastelloy is a trade name; the grades are designated UNS N10276 (alloy C-276) and UNS N06022 (alloy C-22) and are covered for plate, sheet and strip by ASTM B575. Both are nickel-based with high molybdenum and chromium plus tungsten, giving resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion and stress-corrosion cracking in reducing and oxidising media, including wet chlorine, hypochlorite, ferric and cupric chlorides and mixed acids. C22 has higher chromium for better resistance in oxidising conditions. Low carbon and silicon limits allow use in the as-welded condition.

Hastelloy C276 & C22 Plate: common questions
Is Hastelloy a grade name?
Hastelloy is a trade name. The grades are UNS N10276 (C276) and UNS N06022 (C22), and plate is ordered to ASTM B575. Several mills produce these alloys.
What is the difference between C276 and C22?
C22 has more chromium (20.0–22.5% against 14.5–16.5%), giving better resistance in oxidising media. C276 has more molybdenum (15–17%) for reducing conditions. Selection depends on the process chemistry.
Can C276 be used as welded?
Yes. Its low carbon and silicon limits reduce grain-boundary precipitation in the weld heat-affected zone, so it is normally used as welded. Matching nickel alloy filler metal is used.
Does Teshi manufacture Hastelloy plate?
